Description
One of the top hummingbird attractors in our gardens, Mango Tango Agastache, commonly called Hummingbird Mint or Anise Hyssop, is a vigorous growing compact selection to 18 inches tall featuring abundant spikes of tubular flowers in unusual peach to dusky orange shades. You won’t have any other flowering plant in your gardens that produces the same color as flowers as mango Tango. Blooming over a long period summer through early fall, the tubular, nectar-rich flowers on abundant tall spiked clusters were perfectly designed for hummingbirds and butterflies. The flowers stand out nicely against the green, licorice-mint-scented foliage. Provide a full to mostly sunny location in a well-drained soil for optimum health and flowering.
Landscape / Garden Uses
Growing 15 to 18 inches tall and equally as wide, the Mango Tango Agastache is ideal for use an accent in small garden spaces, as a solo or combined with other plants in containers, or in groupings or as a border in larger garden beds. A fine addition to hummingbird gardens, butterfly gardens, beneficial pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, fragrance gardens, perennial gardens, rock gardens, and orange theme gardens.
Growing Preferences
Mango Tango Agastache is very easy to grow in damp to moist but well-drained soil and full sun to mostly sun for best flowering. A constantly soggy or wet soil can cause root rot. Has good drought tolerance when established. Periodic removal of spent flower spikes will help to keep the plants looking clean and fresh as well as to make way for new flower spikes.
